Darwin, 26 November –
A new door of air connectivity is about to open between Bangladesh and Pakistan. There is a possibility that direct flights between Dhaka and Karachi will start from this December.
According to a report by Pakistan’s newspaper The Express Tribune, Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Iqbal Hossain Khan, shared this information on Wednesday.
Speaking at an event of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), he said that Iran’s Mahan Air is initially planning to operate three flights a week.
It is expected that this will further expand business relations between the two countries and make communication easier.
Regarding trade potential, he said Pakistan can take the opportunity to export rice to Bangladesh, while Bangladesh can send fresh pineapples to Pakistan.
He also highlighted the possibilities of joint collaboration in the ready-made garments and textile sectors.
He added that, based on recommendations from the LCCI and the Bangladesh Honorary Consulate, the visa process between the two countries has been simplified.
In his words, members of the organization will now receive visas within three to four days, making travel faster and hassle-free.
Meanwhile, the High Commissioner also mentioned the possibility of introducing a direct cargo transportation system between the two countries.
Although cargo transport between Bangladesh and Pakistan began last December, due to increased demand, plans are now being made to launch a direct service.
