PERTH: A complex, overnight rescue operation concluded successfully this morning after a woman fell into a cave in a remote area of Western Australia.
The incident occurred yesterday evening at Empress Spring, a cave located in the remote Goldfields region, near Lake Wells. The 60-year-old woman suffered an eight-metre fall from a ladder inside the cave, sparking an immediate emergency response.
Rescue crews were dispatched to the challenging location and worked through the night, utilizing specialist equipment to navigate the remote terrain and reach the victim.
The woman was safely winched to the surface around 5:30 this morning. She was subsequently transported to Laverton Hospital for treatment of injuries described as non-life-threatening. The successful operation highlights the skill and dedication of the crews working in Western Australia’s vast and difficult-to-access areas.
