Armed Brawl on Monash Freeway Leaves Melbourne Drivers Terrified

MELBOURNE — A typical Saturday afternoon turned into a scene of absolute terror for hundreds of commuters on the Monash Freeway yesterday. At approximately 2:30 PM, a violent clash erupted in the middle of the freeway at Narre Warren, in Melbourne’s south-east, after two vehicles reportedly weaving through traffic lost control.

Witnesses described a scene of pure “anarchy” as several masked men emerged from the crashed vehicles. Armed with machetes and metal poles, the group began brawling in the center of the busy road while traffic was at a standstill. Dashcam and phone video captured the moment some of the armed men approached the windows of a nearby vehicle containing a young family, forcing the petrified parents to desperately attempt to reverse away from the violence.

The Victoria Police dog squad was deployed to the scene shortly after the men fled into nearby bushland. The incident forced the closure of three outbound lanes, causing significant delays. Despite the scale of the confrontation and the weapons involved, no injuries were reported.

Police confirmed that while one man was detained for questioning, he has since been released without charge. The search for the remaining suspects continues as investigators review mobile phone footage to identify those involved.
