Indian media report that India has hosted a large-scale multinational naval exercise in the port city of Visakhapatnam, located in Andhra Pradesh, bringing together naval forces from around the world.
The Bangladesh Navy participated in the exercise by deploying its frigate BNS Somudra Avijan, which arrived on February 16 to take part in the drills.
According to the reports, nearly 70 countries joined the exercise, each sending one or more naval vessels.
Among the participating nations were Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Sri Lanka and Thailand. The Indian Navy was represented by its aircraft carrier INS Vikrant.
Addressing the gathering, Indian President Droupadi Murmu described the event as a symbol of maritime unity, trust and mutual respect among nations.
She emphasized that enhanced naval cooperation plays a vital role in maintaining peace, stability and adherence to international maritime norms.
The exercise underscored the shared commitment of participating countries to ensuring security and stability across ocean regions, while strengthening global maritime collaboration.
