Trump Agrees to Ceasefire ‘Based on Iran’s 10-Point Proposal’

Darwin, 08 April :

Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, a two-week ceasefire has been agreed upon based on Iran’s proposed 10-point plan. U.S. President Donald Trump said in a post on Tuesday (local time) that he had agreed to a “bilateral ceasefire” with Iran.

The development was reported on Wednesday by CBS News and Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

Trump stated, “I have agreed to halt bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks.” He claimed that the United States had “already achieved and exceeded all military objectives.” Just hours earlier, he had warned that Iran could face devastating consequences if it failed to reach a deal with Washington.

The U.S. president added that he agreed to the ceasefire at the request of Pakistan. However, he set a condition: the Islamic Republic of Iran must “fully, immediately, and safely” reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

While Trump did not comment in detail on Iran’s proposal, he shared a statement by Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on social media.

According to a statement from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the ceasefire includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring controlled and secure maritime transit for two weeks.

A CBS News report also confirmed that, according to a White House official, Israel has agreed to the framework of the ceasefire. However, it remains unclear which elements of Iran’s 10-point proposal have been accepted.

As a next step, peace talks are expected to begin in Islamabad on Friday, mediated by Pakistan. It is not yet clear whether U.S. officials will attend.

Iran’s 10-point proposal, highlighted by Tasnim News Agency, includes several

key demands:

1. A commitment to non-aggression
2. Continued full Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz
3. Recognition of uranium enrichment activities
4. Removal of all primary sanctions
5. Removal of all secondary sanctions
6. Cancellation of all resolutions by the United Nations Security Council
7. Cancellation of all resolutions by the International Atomic Energy Agency Board of Governors
8. Compensation for Iran
9. Withdrawal of U.S. military forces from the region
10. An end to all war across all fronts

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Lebanon is also included in the ceasefire arrangement.

“With utmost humility, I announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon, which will take effect immediately,” Sharif said in a statement.

However, the United States has not officially confirmed most of these conditions. Trump has described the proposal as “a workable basis for negotiations.”

The two-week ceasefire and upcoming talks are being seen as an important opportunity to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East, though uncertainty remains until a final agreement is reached.
