On Tuesday, a group from the government of the Australian state of Victoria headed by Michelle Wade, the state’s Commissioner to South Asia, made a courtesy visit on the members of University Grant Commission of Bangladesh (UGC).

In attendance were UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah and members Dr. Md. Sajjad Hossen, Dr. Mohammad Alamgir, Dr. Biswajit Chanda, Dr. Abu Taher, and UGC Secretary (Additional Charge) Dr. Ferdous Zaman.

Michelle Wade said at the conference that a few institutions in Australia have earned a good reputation for the quality of their instruction. He further said that the government of Victoria, Australia, is eager to assist Bangladeshi educators and students in the sphere of higher education by providing them with technical and technological expertise.

According to Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, “The field of education has developed into a major industry over the globe. Investment or participation in Bangladesh’s educational system, however, is not a commercial venture.” Rather than a commodity, he said, education should be seen as a societal burden.

According to Kazi Shahidullah, Bangladesh is hoping for education-friendly collaboration and substantial foreign investment in the country’s higher education sector.
