Wisconsin, USA – 21 July 2025: Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has broken his silence on the viral “kiss cam” incident during the band’s latest performance at Camp Randall Stadium in Wisconsin on Saturday.
This concert marked the band’s first public appearance since their Massachusetts show on Wednesday, where footage of Astronomer CEO Andy Byron embracing a woman—allegedly not his spouse—sparked widespread controversy on social media.
In the now-viral clip, the pair reacted awkwardly as the “kiss cam” zoomed in on them. The woman attempted to hide her face while Byron ducked out of the camera frame. Chris Martin had humorously commented during the moment, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”
The incident quickly circulated online, and Byron was soon identified. In response, he was placed on leave and later resigned as CEO of data company Astronomer, based in New York.
During Saturday’s show, Martin made a lighthearted reference to the situation without naming Byron directly. “We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd… So please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now,” Martin joked as he introduced the “kiss cam” segment.
In a public statement, Astronomer acknowledged the attention:
“While awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and our work for our customers have not,” the company said.
Byron’s resignation comes amid growing scrutiny, with many social media users criticizing both the personal and professional fallout from the concert moment.
