Darwin, 14 August – A video clip from an old interview of actress Mrunal Thakur has recently gone viral again on social media, stirring controversy.
In the video, Mrunal is heard saying:
“Would you marry a woman who’s overly masculine, whose body is full of muscles? Then go marry Bipasha. Listen, I’m much better than Bipasha! Alright?”
On Wednesday (August 13), actress Bipasha Basu responded indirectly but powerfully via a cryptic post on her Instagram story — which many believe is a clear and pointed reply to Mrunal’s resurfaced comment.
Bipasha’s story read:
“Strong women lift each other up.”
In the caption, she further added:
“Beautiful ladies, build muscle. We should be strong. Having a well-developed physique is extremely important for both physical and mental well-being! So, break the outdated notion that women can’t look strong or athletic.”
Although Bipasha did not mention Mrunal by name, she ended her story with a clear message:
“Love yourself.”
On the work front, Mrunal Thakur was recently seen in Son of Sardaar 2, a comedy film starring Ajay Devgn that was released on August 1. However, the movie failed to make an impact at the box office.
She is next set to appear in Dakuette: A Love Story and Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, scheduled for release in 2026, alongside Varun Dhawan and Pooja Hegde.
As for Bipasha Basu, she was last seen on the big screen in the 2015 film Alone. Since then, she has taken a break from acting to focus on her personal life and motherhood. She married Karan Singh Grover in 2016, and in 2022, they welcomed their daughter, Devi.
