Roumari, Kurigram: A recent incident on the Kurigram border saw 17 goats belonging to a Bangladeshi farmer seized by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). Following swift intervention by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the livestock was successfully returned to its rightful owner.
The incident took place near the Dharampur border in Roumari upazila. Local farmers reported that their 17 goats strayed into the No Man’s Land area. BSF personnel subsequently seized the animals.
When the Bangladeshi farmers attempted to retrieve their livestock, BSF members allegedly chased them away, preventing them from crossing.
The local BGB camp immediately lodged a strong protest against the BSF’s action. Sources indicate that following high-level communication and persistent efforts from the BGB, the BSF eventually agreed to release the animals.
The 17 goats were handed back to the BGB, who then returned them to their relieved owners.
