BNP Mobilizes Youth Voice with Policy-Focused Reel Contest Ahead of Tarique Rahman’s Return

DHAKA:  The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has strategically launched a nationwide reel-making competition aimed at mobilizing popular opinion and sharing policy visions, coinciding with the highly anticipated return of its Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman.

The contest, titled “Bangladesh in My Thoughts,” serves as both a welcoming event for the party leader and a novel mechanism for the party to gauge and influence public discourse on national priorities.

Tarique Rahman’s adviser, Mahdi Amin, announced the program, emphasizing its goal to reflect the “thoughts and expectations of people of all ages,” with a specific focus on the younger generation.

The competition provides 11 themes—including critical areas like Family Card, Farmer Card, Employment, and Education—on which participants are invited to create short, one-minute reels. Amin expressed hope that the competition would create an opportunity to “share visions and ideas about the future of Bangladesh through social media.”

The competition’s central political draw is the promise that 10 top winners will be granted a direct, one-on-one interaction with Tarique Rahman at a special event. This engagement strategy underscores the party’s efforts to project a forward-looking, accessible leadership.

The selection of winners will be determined by a jury board (70%) and public engagement via voting (30%). The contest is open to all citizens, regardless of age or location, and all submissions must be uploaded to the designated event on the BNP’s official Facebook page. The competition is slated to run until December 25, the date for Tarique Rahman’s expected return.
