DHAKA : After a long hiatus, the ambitious biopic “Pritilata,” based on the life of revolutionary freedom fighter Pritilata Waddedar, is officially back on track. Director Rashid Polash confirmed on Sunday that production will resume in the new year, with superstar Pori Moni returning to the titular role.
The announcement came via social media when Rashid Polash shared a photo with the actress, stating, “This time ‘Pritilata’ will also be completed, Insha’Allah 2026.” Pori Moni quickly signaled her enthusiasm, commenting, “I’m ready too,” much to the delight of fans who have waited years for the project’s completion.
Speaking to the media, Polash outlined a clear path forward for the film, which has been stalled since its initial start in late 2020. “If everything goes as planned, we will go into shooting in April next year, right after Eid-ul-Fitr,” the director revealed.
Currently, approximately 30 percent of the film has been completed, with the Dhaka portions already in the bag. The upcoming schedule will focus on the crucial Chattogram segments, which are central to the historical narrative of the anti-British movement.
The project faced several delays over the years, including the actress’s maternity break and various production complications. While another film on the same subject, Pradip Ghosh’s “Bir Konnya Pritilata” (starring Nusrat Imrose Tisha), was released in 2023, interest in Polash’s version remains high due to Pori Moni’s striking “first look” transformation released in 2021.
