Alexander Isak Ruled Out for ‘Months’ After Leg Fracture

LIVERPOOL: Liverpool’s title aspirations have been dealt a significant blow as manager Arne Slot confirmed that star striker Alexander Isak is facing “a couple of months” on the sidelines.

The Sweden international sustained a serious injury to his left leg during Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Despite scoring in the encounter, Isak was the victim of a sliding challenge from Spurs defender Micky van de Ven that has resulted in a fibula fracture and significant ankle damage.

Liverpool confirmed that Isak has already undergone surgery to address what the club described as “an ankle injury that included a fibula fracture.”

“It’s going to be a long injury, for a couple of months,” Arne Slot told reporters during a press conference. “It’s a big disappointment for him and, as a result, for us. He has been vital to our play, and losing a player of his caliber for such a duration is a tough pill to swallow.”

Isak has been in scintillating form for the Reds, and his absence leaves a void in Slot’s attacking lineup. With a congested winter schedule approaching, Liverpool will now have to look toward their squad depth to maintain their momentum at the top of the Premier League table.

The club has not set a specific return date, stating that the player’s recovery will be monitored week-by-week following his successful operation.
