Apple iPhone 17 Sales Up 14 Over iPhone 16 in US and China Says Counterpoint

BEIJING – Apple’s latest flagship device, the iPhone 17 series, has significantly outsold its predecessor in early sales across key markets, according to a report released by research firm Counterpoint on Monday.

The iPhone 17 models saw a 14% jump in sales compared to the iPhone 16 series during their first 10 days of availability in both China and the United States. Analysts attribute the strong start primarily to the appeal of the base model iPhone 17, which offers substantial upgrades without an increase in price.

“The base model iPhone 17 is very compelling to consumers, offering great value for money,” said Counterpoint Senior Analyst Mengmeng Zhang in the report. Zhang highlighted several technical improvements driving consumer interest: “A better chip, improved display, higher base storage, and selfie camera upgrade – all for the same price as last year’s iPhone 16.”

Apple launched the iPhone 17 series globally, including in the crucial Chinese market, in September. The early sales figures suggest the strategic decision to enhance the standard model’s features has successfully energized consumer demand in two of the world’s largest smartphone markets.
