Over 100,000 Join Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi Rally in Dhaka

Darwin, August 27: More than 100,000 devotees took part in a colourful rally in Dhaka to mark the 1,501st birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), organised by Dewanbag Sharif.

Addressing the gathering ahead of the rally, Imam Professor Dr. Qudrat-e-Khoda called for an end to hostility and negative campaigns against Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) and urged Muslims to express their love and devotion to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Earlier, a day-long Ashiq-e-Rasul (PBUH) conference was held, attended by Pir Sahibs from several spiritual establishments as well as representatives from around 40 countries.

Describing Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) as the happiest day for devotees of the Prophet, Qudrat-e-Khoda said Muslims had long been deprived of the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with joy.

He said there had been a widespread belief that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born and passed away on the same day. However, Syed Mahbub-e-Khoda, regarded by his followers as a reformer of the 20th century, challenged the belief through historical documents, claiming that the Prophet passed away on 1 Rabi-ul-Awwal and was born on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal.

As a result, Muslims now have the opportunity to celebrate the Prophet’s birth anniversary with joy and devotion, Qudrat-e-Khoda said.

Speakers at the conference said the Bangladesh government began officially observing Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) following years of efforts by Dewanbag Huzur.

The conference was attended by prominent Islamic scholars and notable personalities from different professions. Among them were Bangladesh Supreme Court Justice Syed Md. Ziaul Karim, Justice Md. Faruk (M. Faruk), Nazrul researcher and former Additional Secretary of the Government of Bangladesh Zakir Hossain, columnist and researcher Dr. Muhammad Nasir Uddin Sohel, former Vice Principal of National Law College Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Mia, and Hazratul Allama Muhaddis Emran Hossain Mazhari.
